Matthew Werley

Bio

Matthew Werley was born in eastern Pennsylvania to parents of Austro-German descent. After moving to Oxford for his doctoral studies, he received British citizenship and has since lived in the Bavarian and Austrian Alps. He is the father of two boys who enjoy life and adventures in the mountains.

Employment

Matthew began teaching at the university level in 1997. He teaches (in German and English) theoretical and historical subjects ranging from musical analysis to modern dance. Currently employed at the Mozarteum, he has previously held teaching and research appointments at the:

  • University of East Anglia, Norwich

  • Richard-Strauss-Institut, Garmisch-Partenkirchen

  • Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg
